The Bible is perfect with 66 books, but some people aren’t happy with that number because they say books were taken out. Behind this confusion lies the devil, whose goal is to sow doubt in the Bible any way he can. Once we doubt, he can then begin working on us, chipping away at words in the Bible and even basic Bible teaching. And, if we believe the Bible isn't perfect, that might take away our enthusiasm for reading it. Wouldn’t the Devil like that?
So, how can we find out for sure the number of books in the Bible? Should we ask the scholars and the Bible colleges? Should we ask the "experts" on social media and YouTube? How about Christians from other countries who might know something we don’t? Should we ask Google or Wikipedia?
Instead of all that, how about we ask God? How about we let the Bible tell us how many books should be in the Bible? It is the source of all truth, isn’t it? You don’t think God would leave us hanging on this important issue, do you?
God gave us CLUES in the Bible that it’s perfect with 66 books. No more, no less.

CLUE #1.
There were 66 decorations on the golden lampstand in Exodus 25:31-37, consisting of bowls, knops, and flowers.
God is showing us 66 decorations on the lampstand represent 66 books. Each decoration is a book.
He compares His Word to that lampstand: THY WORD IS A LAMP unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)
God connects the Bible to the lampstand and says the lampstand has 66 decorations. Decorations represent books, which means the Bible has 66 books.
CLUE #2.
The 66th chapter in the Bible is the first place to mention MANNA (which represents the Bible/the bread of Life).
(Exodus 16:15) And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is MANNA: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
Manna represents the Bible (the bread of life). So again, God connects the Bible to the number 66.
CLUE #3.
Isaiah has 66 chapters.
The Bible has 66 books, and Isaiah has 66 chapters. Isaiah is a mini Bible in the Bible, and a guide to let us know how many books it should have. The 40th chapter of Isaiah even lines up to the 40th book of the Bible.
Isaiah chapter 40 verse 3: The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3)
The 40th book of the Bible and the 3rd chapter and the 3rd verse: For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. (Matthew 3:3)
Those verses are nearly identical. Coincidence? Adding extra books would throw off that alignment.
Before you read the 4th clue, understand this: The All knowing, All powerful, Almighty God who created the Universe and all the amazing things in it, is well capable of preserving His Book. It's not a problem for God. The problem is that men don't trust God enough to think He can give them a perfect book. It comes from a lack of faith. And the problem is the devil is causing the confusion.
God gave us clues. We can read His Word with enthusiasm and know it’s perfect with 66 books. The Word of God is PURE, and God promised to PRESERVE it.
(Psalm 12:6-7) The words of the LORD are PURE words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt KEEP THEM, O LORD, thou shalt PRESERVE THEM from this generation FOR EVER.
